Educational qualifications
Essential qualification for Assistant Professor
Candidates must fulfil the following conditions:
Master's degree in the concerned discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a recognized/accredited foreign university.
Must have cleared NET conducted by ICAR/UGC/CSIR or a similar test accredited by UGC, such as SLET/SET.
Exemption from NET/SLET/SET:
Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and subsequent amendments may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
For candidates registered for Ph.D. before 11 July 2009, the following conditions apply:
Ph.D. awarded in regular mode.
Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners.
Open Ph.D. viva voce conducted.
Two research papers published from Ph.D. work, of which at least one must be in a refereed journal.
At least two papers presented at conferences/seminars sponsored or supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agencies.
Fulfilment certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs).
Foreign Ph.D. qualification:
A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the world rankings at any time by one of the following:
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
Times Higher Education (THE)
Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The academic score specified in Appendix II, Table 3A, will be used for shortlisting. Final selection will be based on interview performance.
